Lagos Flood Submerges Gberigbe Community, Residents Seek Urgent Intervention

Residents of Gberigbe, Ikorodu, Lagos State, are appealing to the government for urgent repairs to the heavily flooded Gberigbe road. The dilapidated road, worsened by recent heavy rains, has caused businesses to suffer and residents to relocate.

Residents, lamented that the road connects approximately 60 communities. During the rainy season, it becomes an obstacle course, making it arduous for residents to reach their homes and hindering children from attending school.

The floodwaters have rendered the road nearly impassable, hindering transportation and leading to a decline in customer traffic for local businesses. A resident, Mrs. Ismail, shared the negative impact on her business, stating, “Sales are no longer what they used to be.”

Residents claim the road has been in a poor state for over three years. Mr. Olawole Paul, another resident, highlighted the broader impact, including difficulty for children to attend school and companies facing relocation due to the poor road conditions.
