In a significant breakthrough against rising criminal activities, the Taraba State Police Command has apprehended thirteen suspected bandits and kidnappers operating in Jalingo, Yorro, Lau, and Zing local government areas. Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, made this announcement while presenting the suspects and seized items at the police headquarters in Jalingo.

The arrest comes in response to heightened concerns over the criminal activities of these individuals, particularly in the mentioned areas. The police revealed that the criminals utilized nearby mountains as cover, complicating rescue operations.

Through a collaborative effort involving the police, other security agencies, vigilantes, and professional hunters, thirteen suspects were captured in various locations across the state. Notably, the police rejected an attempted bribe of over N8 million. The operation also led to the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, five rounds of live ammunition, and the successful rescue of five kidnap victims.

In a surprising twist, the police also apprehended three electricity vandals responsible for damaging transformers at the police headquarters and Yola Electricity Distribution Company in Lau Local Government Area. Investigations revealed a collaboration between the bandits and electricity vandals, exploiting power outages to execute crimes in affected communities.

Commissioner Joseph Eribo expressed gratitude to Governor Agbu Kefas for steadfast support in maintaining peace, safety, security, and economic prosperity in the state.
