President Tinubu condoles with Oyo state govt and residents over Ibadan explosion

President Bola Tinubu has today condoled with the people of Ibadan, Oyo state over the devastating explosion that occurred on Tuesday night in the Bodija area of the state capital.

In the condolence message signed by the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale to Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde, the government and the people of the state, the president said he regretted the wanton loss of lives and properties was due to activities of illegal miners.


He said: “It is worrisome that the cause of the blast is being attributed to the activities of illegal miners. Those behind the inexcusable and reckless behaviour that has created the conditions for the sad incident to occur must be fished out and punished.”

In the statement, the president ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to work with the Oyo State Government to offer immediate and comprehensive relief to victims of the explosion.

The explosion left two persons dead, about 80 injured, over 20 houses completely destroyed, rendered dozens homeless and also destroyed vehicles, and other properties.
