Plateau Tragedy Response: IGP Egbetokun Deploys Elite Forces, Relocates AIG, Pledges Swift Justice and Lasting Peace

Following the recent tragic attacks in Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos, Plateau State, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has arrived in Jos to address the situation head-on.

In a decisive move, IGP Egbetokun has ordered the immediate deployment of a specialized team comprising:

  • Police Mobile Force (PMF)
  • Counterterrorism Unit (CTU)
  • Special Forces (SF)
  • Intelligence Response Team (IRT)
  • Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID)
  • Special Tactical Squad (STS)

Their mission: meticulously comb the affected areas, identify the culprits, and ensure swift justice prevails, restoring enduring peace in Plateau.

Taking further action, the IGP:

  • Visited Bokkos: To assess the situation firsthand and engage with the affected community.
  • Relocated AIG Zone 4: Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Ebong Eyibio Ebong will temporarily relocate to Plateau to coordinate operations.
  • Deployed additional assets: To facilitate a comprehensive and swift investigation.
  • Committed to joint effort: The IGP pledged cooperation with the military to decimate the activities of the armed militia responsible.
  • Urged unity: He called on citizens to avoid ethnic interpretations, emphasizing the national condemnation of the attacks.
