Resignations and Appointments Follow Aiyedatiwa’s Swearing-In as Ondo Governor After Akeredolu’s Passing

In the wake of the unfortunate demise of Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his successor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has witnessed the resignation of at least three of Akeredolu’s political aides. Mr. Aiyedatiwa, who had been the acting governor since December 13, was officially sworn in on Wednesday.

Among those who resigned is Adedoyin Odebowale, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties and Strategy, who submitted his resignation letter dated December 27. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve, Odebowale cited the untimely death of Governor Akeredolu as the reason for his immediate resignation. Richard Olatunde, Akeredolu’s Chief Press Secretary, also submitted his resignation, acknowledging the unfortunate demise of the late governor as the basis for his decision.

Simultaneously, Aiyedatiwa announced new appointments, including Ebenezer Adeniyan as Chief Press Secretary, Smart Omodunbi as Special Assistant on Political Matters, Abire Olugbenga as Special Assistant on New Media, Motunrayo Oyedele as Special Assistant on Photography, and Temitayo Iperepolu as Special Assistant on Domestic and Government House. These appointments take immediate effect.

The transitions in Ondo’s political landscape highlight the challenges and adjustments following Governor Akeredolu’s passing and the installation of the new governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
