“Governor Fubara Affirms Commitment to Implement Presidential Peace Pact Amid Political Crisis”

Boom RadioNG | December 25, 2023

In a Christmas Broadcast on Monday morning, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, reiterated his dedication to implementing the eight-point presidential peace agreement aimed at resolving the political crisis in the state.

Governor Fubara emphasized that the agreement would be executed in a manner that upholds the collective interests of the people and democratic values, ensuring a harmonious resolution to the ongoing crisis.

As a principal participant in the saga, Fubara took the time to study the terms of the proclamation and concluded that the peace pact is not as detrimental as portrayed by some opponents. He emphasized that the peace accord is an opportunity to achieve much-needed stability in the state, asserting that it is “not a death sentence.”

Governor Fubara acknowledged the goodwill demonstrated by both sides of the divide in their efforts towards implementing the agreement. He highlighted the withdrawal of the purported impeachment notice by the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly and the release of the withheld allowance of the State House of Assembly by his government.

Expressing gratitude, Governor Fubara thanked President Bola Tinubu for intervening in the political crisis, demonstrating his love for Rivers State. He also appreciated the people for their support during the crisis, promising to maintain high governance standards and extensive consultation for the betterment of the state.

Encouraging citizens to embrace the virtues of selflessness, genuine love, and true forgiveness espoused by Jesus Christ during the Christmas celebration, Governor Fubara assured that the coming year, 2024, would witness improved development. The planned completion of strategic infrastructure, including a section of the Ring Road Project and the Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro unity road, abandoned for over 20 years, is anticipated to contribute to the state’s progress.
