Secular Sounds at the Sanctuary: Pasuma and Portable Ignite Celestial Praise Night

Boom RadioNG | December 16, 2023

In a move that sparked both praise and criticism, renowned Fuji musician Pasuma and street-hop artist Portable took the stage at a recent Celestial Church of Christ praise night. Despite initial backlash from some members, the parish leader defended the decision, citing his success in attracting new converts through similar outreach efforts.

The event, held at the Land of Goshen Cathedral, initially drew criticism on social media for featuring secular artists in a religious setting.

Church authorities initially confirmed the cancellation of the musicians’ appearances, but the parish leader later reversed the decision. Aderemi Dabiri, the parish leader, explained his intention to reach unchurched individuals and potentially inspire conversion, citing previous successes with similar approaches. Pasuma delivered a set of Fuji gospel songs, while Portable’s performance included his popular hit “Zazu,” captivating the audience.
