Police Arrest Suspects Over R150 Million Theft at South African President’s Farm

Boom RadioNG | November 7, 2023

South African police have arrested several suspects in connection with the 2020 robbery of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm, where millions of rand were stolen.

The arrests were made on December 4, 2023, after a months-long investigation by the Hawks, a South African police unit tasked with investigating serious and organized crime.

According to police, the suspects are believed to be part of a gang that has been targeting high-profile individuals and businesses in South Africa. The gang is suspected of being responsible for several other robberies in the country, including the theft of millions of rand from a bank vault in Johannesburg in 2021.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on December 6, 2023, on charges of robbery and money laundering.

The arrests of the suspects in the Cyril Ramaphosa farm robbery are a significant development in the case. The robbery has been a major source of embarrassment for the South African government, and the arrests have been welcomed by many South Africans.

It is still too early to say what impact the arrests will have on Ramaphosa’s presidency. However, the arrests do show that the South African government is taking the robbery seriously and is committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
