Accord Party Denies Olawepo-Hashim’s Candidacy, Refunds ₦50 Million Nomination Fee

In a dramatic twist ahead of the 2027 elections, the Accord Party has firmly rejected claims that former presidential aspirant Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim is its flagbearer. The party’s National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbuden, clarified that no presidential primary was conducted and described the reported exercise as a mere gathering of supporters rather than an official process.

Mgbuden revealed that Olawepo-Hashim’s payment of ₦50 million for nomination and interest forms came after the official deadline, prompting the party to instruct its bankers to reverse the transaction. He stressed that Accord remains committed to transparency and due process, noting that compliance with nomination procedures is mandatory regardless of the number of aspirants.
