Man United Records £677.6m Revenue, But Annual Loss Reaches £43m
Manchester United has reported record annual revenue of £677.6 million despite making a £43 million net loss for the financial year ended June 30, 2026.
The figures show the contrast between the club’s strong commercial reach and the financial pressures it continues to face as it restructures its operations and invests in its football teams.
United’s revenue increased by 1.7 per cent, with broadcasting income providing the biggest boost.
Broadcasting Revenue Rises After Premier League Finish
Broadcasting income increased by almost 20 per cent after United finished third in the 2025/26 Premier League season.
That result also secured Champions League football for the club in the 2026/27 campaign.
However, United’s commercial and matchday income both fell by almost five per cent, with the club having played the previous season without European football.
The accounts mark United’s seventh consecutive annual loss after tax.
The club also recorded £8.2 million in exceptional costs, largely associated with the departure of manager Ruben Amorim in January after 14 months in charge.
Former United midfielder Michael Carrick replaced Amorim and guided the team to a third-place Premier League finish and Champions League qualification.
£63.5m Spent on Land for Stadium Plans
The financial accounts also reveal that Manchester United spent £63.5 million on land next to Old Trafford as part of plans for a proposed new 100,000-capacity stadium.
The investment comes as the club continues to consider the future of its stadium infrastructure alongside its wider financial restructuring.
Since acquiring a stake in the club in February 2024, co-owner Jim Ratcliffe has overseen a series of cost-cutting measures, including widespread job reductions and cuts to operating expenses.
The club also recorded a significant increase in loan repayments during the financial year.

Berrada Says Restructuring Is Having an Impact
United chief executive Omar Berrada said the financial results reflected the impact of restructuring work carried out over the past two years.
“This shows the direct impact of the work we have been doing over the past two years,” Berrada said.
He also pointed to the figures as evidence of Manchester United’s continuing commercial strength, while stressing that the club would maintain a disciplined approach to its finances.
Berrada highlighted the return of Champions League football and investment in both the men’s and women’s teams during the summer transfer window.
Manchester United expects to generate between £740 million and £760 million in revenue during the current financial year.
Stronger Finances, Difficult Start on the Pitch
The improved revenue outlook comes against a challenging start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.
Carrick’s side have collected just five points from their opening five league matches and were also eliminated from the English League Cup last week.
That creates a contrasting picture for the club: record revenue and a return to Europe’s biggest club competition on one hand, but continued financial losses and an uncertain start to the new season on the other.
For Manchester United, the coming financial year will provide an important test of whether increased commercial income, Champions League revenue and the club’s restructuring programme can translate into greater financial sustainability and stronger performances on the pitch.
