Bulletproof Bravery: Troops Foil ISWAP Mass Abduction Plot at Borno School

A catastrophic mass kidnapping attempt was narrowly averted in the early hours of Sunday, July 19, 2026, when Nigerian troops and police operatives decisively repelled a midnight raid by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists. The target was the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) in Monguno, Borno State, a facility currently serving as a temporary hostel for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno.

A Midnight Breach Met with Instant Firepower

The terrorists infiltrated the school campus around 1:30 a.m. with the help of suspected internal collaborators, attempting to abduct the sleeping students. However, their criminal plot was immediately intercepted. On-duty security personnel engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle before the Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force arrived as reinforcement, forcing the terrorists to abandon their mission and flee in disarray.
