The Handwritten Clue: How a Forgotten Pen and Forensic Tracking Caught OGTV Broadcaster’s Killers

A chilling case of workplace grievance turning into double murder has been cracked by the Ogun State Police Command. Investigators have arrested three suspects tied to the brutal killing of Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, a former broadcaster with Ogun State Television (OGTV), and her 38-year-old security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.

While the perpetrators attempted to mask their tracks by stealing the victim’s luxury vehicle, a handwritten note and a forgotten black pen left at the crime scene became their undoing.

A Grudge Over Low Pay Turns Fatal

Paraded at the police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the 22-year-old principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, allegedly confessed to planning the cold-blooded operation. Philip, who previously worked for Oyesiku as a security guard, harbored a deep resentment over his remuneration.

According to Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni, Philip recruited a 27-year-old security guard and a 36-year-old bricklayer to help him “teach her a lesson”. On Saturday, June 20, 2026, the trio overpowered the current guard, Adetayo, using him to gain entry into the main house before murdering both victims with a hammer, a cutlass, and a wooden plank.

The Forensic Breakthrough

The bodies were discovered on June 21 after neighbors noticed a damaged front door. Oyesiku was found in a pool of blood in her living room, while her guard was locked inside the security house.

Though the killers fled in Oyesiku’s Lexus RX 330, the police command deployed advanced technical tracking and forensic science to break the case open:

• The Paper Trail: Detectives recovered a handwritten note left behind by the killers. Forensic examination of the handwriting and a black pen found at the scene generated the initial investigative leads.

• The Detached Plates: On June 22, police recovered the missing Lexus in Onikolobo. The registration plates had been ripped off and hidden under the seats, but detectives matched the numbers to confirm the vehicle’s ownership.

• The Construction Site Arrest: Armed with tracking data, operatives closed in on Philip on June 24, arresting him while he was working as a laborer at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.

His confession quickly led to the capture of his two accomplices. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that investigation is being consolidated to ensure diligent prosecution in court.
