Oyebanji Hails ‘Humbling’ Re-Election as INEC Declares APC Candidate Winner of Ekiti Governorship Poll

Boom RadioNG | June 21, 2026

Governor Biodun Oyebanji has described his re-election as a “humbling vote of confidence” after INEC declared him the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

The APC candidate secured a landslide victory with 319,224 votes, defeating PDP’s Oluwole Oluyede (40,543 votes) and ADC’s Dare Bejide (12,872 votes). Oyebanji recorded victories across all 16 local government areas, earning nearly 85% of the total votes cast.

Reacting to the result, the governor thanked Ekiti residents for their overwhelming support and pledged to deepen development, strengthen stability, and ensure the benefits of governance reach every community.

While the election witnessed isolated BVAS complaints and allegations of irregularities, observers commended the generally peaceful conduct of the poll and voter participation across the state.
