Nigeria’s long-awaited transition from analogue to digital broadcasting has taken a decisive step forward as stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to completing the Digital Switch Over (DSO) programme.

At a meeting convened by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) under the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, industry leaders endorsed a hybrid broadcasting framework that integrates Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite services, and digital streaming platforms.

Minister Mohammed Idris assured participants that the government’s approach is guided by national interest, inclusiveness, and sustainability, stressing that the DSO will drive job creation, local content growth, investment attraction, and manufacturing support. Stakeholders also agreed to reconstitute the Digital Implementation Team (DigiTeam) to provide strategic direction and ensure smooth rollout.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to fast-track Nigeria’s digital migration, institutionalize quarterly engagements, and strengthen advertising revenue through improved audience measurement systems.
