EFCC Declares Ex-Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq Wanted Over Alleged N746m, $1.3m Fraud
Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has declared former Humanitarian Affairs Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq wanted over alleged diversion of public funds, abuse of office, and criminal conspiracy.
The development follows a court-issued arrest warrant after the former minister and a ministry permanent secretary reportedly failed to appear for arraignment over an alleged fraud involving $1.3 million and N746.6 million.
According to the EFCC, the funds were allegedly linked to irregular payments under the National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office programme. The commission accused the defendants of fraudulent contract awards, criminal breach of trust, and mismanagement of public resources.
