“We Are Only Two But Not Shaken” — Makinde Reacts as PDP Governors Shrink to Two
Boom RadioNG | March 10, 2026
Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, says members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remain confident despite the party now having only two governors following a wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The latest exit came after Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State announced his move to the APC, leaving Makinde and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State as the only PDP governors.
Speaking during the expanded Board of Trustees meeting in Abuja, Makinde described the moment as a challenging phase for the party and Nigeria’s democracy, but insisted PDP leaders remain focused.

“We are only two remaining, but we are not bothered,” Makinde said, expressing optimism that the party will overcome its internal crisis and continue to stand “on the side of the people.”
Meanwhile, former Senate President Adolphus Wabara urged party leaders to rebuild, noting that a recent court ruling provides an opportunity for the PDP to reset and strengthen its structures.
