The Residents’ Association of Lonex Gardens Estate (RALGIN) says the facility, reportedly linked to Daalon Gas Nigeria Limited, is located close to homes and other residential infrastructure. According to the association, many residents were initially informed that the site would host a retail development before construction of a gas facility began.
Community members say the presence of a gas plant within a densely populated residential area has raised anxiety, particularly given past gas-related incidents in parts of Lagos and its environs.
RALGIN Chairman Jide Fasanmi noted that residents are seeking clarity on regulatory approvals, environmental impact assessments, and safety protocols related to the facility. The association also appealed for dialogue and transparency between operators, regulators, and the community to ensure that safety standards are fully met.

The group has urged relevant authorities—including the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Ogun State Government—to review the situation and ensure that all legal and environmental procedures were properly followed.
Residents say their main objective is to ensure the safety of families living in the area and to encourage solutions that balance community welfare with legitimate business operations.
They are also calling for constructive engagement between stakeholders to determine whether the facility’s location complies with existing safety regulations for gas infrastructure near residential areas.
