Oyo Lawmaker Dawood Olalere Joins ADC as Ebonyi Leaders Clamp Down on Infiltration

Dawood Olalere, representing Ibadan North-West in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has officially quit the PDP and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Citing “long-standing internal divisions” in his former party, Olalere led a group of supporters to St. Patrick Primary School, Ibadan, where ADC officials warmly welcomed them.

“This move is about my conviction for a better Nigeria,” Olalere said, as ADC leaders hailed his defection as a boost for the party’s Assembly presence and grassroots strength. The shift follows other high-profile PDP exits in Oyo, including Agboola Ayoola and Bisi Ilaka, signaling major political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

In Ebonyi State, ADC is taking no chances. State leaders inaugurated a Transition Committee to secure party structures and prevent infiltration by rival parties. Party head Sunday Opoke warned against sabotage, emphasizing transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability. Chief Ogbonnia Oko Enyim and Solomon Adum urged members to resist intimidation and strengthen the ADC ahead of nationwide congresses and the 2027 polls.
