Rivers Crisis: Wike Confirms Tinubu Peace Talks With Fubara, Urges Assembly to “Do the Needful”
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has confirmed a fresh peace meeting with President Bola Tinubu and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, signaling renewed efforts to end the lingering political crisis in Rivers. The meeting, initiated by the President, focused on reconciling the governor with the Rivers State House of Assembly after months of tension and impeachment threats.

Wike praised Tinubu’s intervention and urged lawmakers to “do the needful” by aligning with the President’s directive, expressing hope the latest talks will produce lasting peace. The closed-door discussions in Abuja come as observers watch closely to see if the fragile truce between the rival camps will hold and restore stability in the oil-rich state.
