Boom RadioNG | September 30, 2025

In a move that has set social media buzzing, the Lagos State Government has officially appointed controversial influencer Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, as a brand ambassador for the Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse initiative (LASKADA).

The announcement was made by Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, during an unveiling event in Lagos. Ogunlende highlighted Mandy Kiss’ influence as a digital creator with over 402,000 Instagram followers, stressing that her online reach could play a pivotal role in spreading anti-drug messages to young people across the state.

Why Mandy Kiss?

Mandy Kiss, who has built a controversial persona through provocative skits and unfiltered online content, has never been far from the headlines. Just recently, she sparked outrage after claiming she planned to attempt a Guinness World Record for having sex with 100 men in 24 hours. The claim drew sharp criticism, with traditional ruler Oba Akintunde Akinyemi calling for her arrest, before Mandy quickly retracted the statement, insisting it was a “joke.”

Guinness World Records also stepped in, clarifying that it does not recognize or monitor such categories. The saga left the influencer trending nationwide and cemented her reputation as a polarizing figure in Nigeria’s digital space.

Lagos’ Bold Gamble

Despite the controversy, Ogunlende defended her appointment, saying the campaign needed to leverage unconventional voices that could capture the attention of young people.

“We cannot ignore the platforms young Nigerians are plugged into daily. Mandy Kiss has their ear — and now, we are channeling that attention towards a cause that matters: ending drug abuse.”

According to government data, 14.4% of Lagos youth aged 15–64 are affected by drug and substance abuse, a crisis that LASKADA is determined to combat through aggressive awareness and grassroots mobilization.

From “Queen of Olosho” to Change Agent?

For Mandy Kiss, often nicknamed the “Queen of Olosho” online, the ambassadorship could signal a turning point — transforming her from a lightning rod for controversy into a voice for social change. While she did not immediately comment during the unveiling, her new role puts her at the heart of one of Lagos State’s most urgent social campaigns.

Whether her appointment will silence critics or ignite further debate remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Mandy Kiss has once again become the center of national conversation — this time at the intersection of controversy and advocacy.
