Hilda Baci Assures Fans of Hygiene Ahead of Record-Breaking Jollof Rice Cook-Off
Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has once again captured public attention—this time with her ambitious plan to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Ahead of the much-anticipated event, Baci took to Instagram to reassure fans about the hygiene and safety of the massive six-metre-wide pot that will house her culinary masterpiece. In a video clip, she was seen inside the custom-made pot, personally scrubbing it with branded detergent.

“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” she wrote, tagging the detergent brand.
With a mix of humor and transparency, Baci explained her unconventional approach:
“I know you’re probably wondering, ‘Why is she inside the pot?’ The reason is simple—I needed to wash it thoroughly. Once done, I’ll rinse again and sanitise with brand-new mopsticks before cooking begins.”

This is not the chef’s first brush with record-breaking fame. In May 2023, she made international headlines after completing a 100-hour cooking marathon, earning her a coveted spot in the Guinness World Records. With this latest attempt, she continues to spotlight Nigerian food culture with flair and dedication.
