NIPOST Launches Agro-Logistics Initiative (#NAILI) to Curb Post-Harvest Losses and Boost Food Security
The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has unveiled the NIPOST Agro-Logistics Initiative (#NAILI)—a bold intervention designed to transform agricultural logistics, reduce post-harvest losses, and strengthen national food security.
The initiative, announced by Tola Odeyemi, Postmaster-General and CEO of NIPOST, aims to leverage the agency’s vast nationwide infrastructure to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security agenda while empowering rural communities and boosting the agricultural value chain.

Tackling Post-Harvest Losses
Nigeria’s agricultural sector loses over 40% of farm produce annually due to poor storage, inadequate logistics, and weak distribution systems. These challenges erode farmers’ incomes, threaten food availability, and stifle economic growth.
By integrating technology, infrastructure, and partnerships, #NAILI is positioned to change that narrative. The programme will ensure produce moves seamlessly from rural hubs to markets, cutting waste and improving efficiency across the chain.
Key Objectives of #NAILI
-
✅ Minimize post-harvest losses through modernized logistics and faster transportation.
-
✅ Bolster food security by making fresh produce more accessible and affordable.
-
✅ Create jobs and expand opportunities for rural communities.
-
✅ Foster collaboration between government, farmers, private sector players, and development partners.
A National Commitment
The official launch was performed by Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). Stakeholders, development agencies, and private sector leaders—including the Nigeria Commodity Exchange, SMEDAN, and Interswitch—pledged their support.
Speaking at the event, Odeyemi described #NAILI as “more than a logistics programme—it is a national commitment to ensuring that what Nigerian farmers grow reaches the people, nourishes communities, and reduces wastage.”
Dr. Tijani also highlighted the Federal Government’s determination to harness innovation and institutional infrastructure for sustainable national development, while NIPOST reaffirmed its transformation into a strategic player beyond traditional postal services.
The Bigger Picture
With #NAILI, NIPOST is repositioning itself as a key driver of innovation, sustainability, and economic resilience. The initiative underscores the link between food security, national stability, and long-term growth.
By anchoring its success on collaboration, innovation, and nationwide reach, NIPOST’s #NAILI initiative promises to enhance the competitiveness of Nigerian farmers, strengthen local economies, and ensure that “no harvest is lost, and no family goes hungry.”
