Keyamo Dismisses ‘ADA Party’ as Political Theatre, Says It’s No Threat to APC
The political space in Nigeria is heating up ahead of the 2027 general elections — but not everyone is buying into the hype. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has poured cold water on news of a new opposition party, All Democratic Alliance (ADA), labeling the initiative as “overhyped” and “politically empty.”
Keyamo, in a strongly worded post on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) on Friday, June 20, 2025, dismissed the announcement by the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG) as nothing more than political theatre lacking any real structure or backing.
“This is just a simple application for party registration… It is an unnecessary hype the promoters have been struggling to create all along,” he wrote.
What’s Behind the ADA?
The NOCG, chaired by former Senate President David Mark, had submitted a formal request to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of All Democratic Alliance — a party it hopes will serve as a formidable force against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
According to an earlier statement signed by former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Umar Ardo, the group met on May 6, 2025, to formalize the creation of a “new political platform.” The application to INEC followed on May 19, marking what supporters hoped would be the birth of a united opposition bloc.
But Keyamo isn’t impressed.

Keyamo’s Take: “No Coalition, No Substance”
Drawing a sharp contrast with the historic 2013 coalition that gave rise to the APC, Keyamo asserted that the ADA effort lacks political depth and organizational clout.
“No recognised existing political party or parties are part of this… If they are thinking of recreating what the APC did in 2013, then this is nothing but a pedestrian joke,” he added.
He clarified that the initiative comprises only a few individuals exercising their constitutional right to float a party — a far cry from the powerful alliance that shook Nigeria’s political foundation a decade ago.
“Psychological Warfare,” Not a Political Movement
According to Keyamo, the ADA buzz is “just psychological warfare” aimed at creating artificial public momentum.
“After all the razzmatazz, it boils down to a new party application by a few Nigerians… a disappointing anti-climax to all the preceding pomp and pageantry.”
While NOCG insiders continue to position ADA as a serious contender, Keyamo’s remarks echo a broader sentiment within APC ranks — that the new party lacks grassroots credibility, strategic unity, and the kind of widespread support needed to unseat an incumbent party.
