In a series of high-impact security operations, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have successfully arrested 13 suspected kidnappers and recovered 11 sophisticated firearms, 89 rounds of live ammunition, and multiple operational motorcycles. These operations reinforce the NPF’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring national security.
Police Operatives Overpower Kidnappers in Kogi-Edo Ambush
On March 11, 2025, at approximately 6:30 PM, a specialized unit from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) came under heavy attack by a group of armed kidnappers while on a special assignment to Edo State. The ambush took place at Oshara Ganden, a notorious boundary area between Kogi and Edo States.
Displaying exceptional tactical prowess, the police operatives neutralized the threat and apprehended eight suspects, identified as:
- Tukur Salisu
- Sani Abubakar
- Mamud Sani
- Umar Abdullahi
- Salisu Mohammed
- Salisu Usman
- Bashir Audu
- Jibril Haruna
Weapons and Equipment Recovered:
- 1 AK-47 rifle with 29 rounds of live ammunition
- 1 Israeli pump-action rifle with 4 cartridges
- 2 pump-action rifles with 72 cartridges
- 1 single-barrel shotgun with 2 cartridges
- 2 operational motorcycles used for criminal activities
Kaduna Kidnapping Syndicate Busted
In another coordinated operation on January 27, 2025, police operatives acted on credible intelligence to track down and arrest two notorious criminals, identified as:
- Yakubu Musa (30 years old)
- Usman Musa (25 years old)
Both suspects, hailing from Kaduna State, were linked to multiple kidnappings and cattle rustling operations in the Soba and Ikara regions. The operation led to the recovery of:
- 3 AK-47 rifles
- 19 rounds of live ammunition
Police Crack Down on Criminal Syndicate in Kaduna & Niger States
Earlier, on January 21, 2025, three additional suspects were arrested for criminal conspiracy, illegal firearm possession, and kidnapping. The suspects, identified as:
- Abubakar Lawan (24 years old)
- Isiaku Abdullahi (35 years old)
- Abbas Maisaude (26 years old)
Confessed to their involvement in multiple kidnappings across Rijana, Lambata, Dandume, and Ugama in Kaduna and Niger States.
Weapons Recovered from the Gang:
- 1 AK-49 rifle
- 2 AK-47 rifles
- 28 rounds of live ammunition
