ITTF President Pledges Full Support to African Table Tennis Federation’s New Leadership

Petra Sorling, President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), has pledged her unwavering support to the newly elected Executive Council of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF). Speaking at the ATTF Elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on October 15, 2024, at the Economic Commission for Africa Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Sorling emphasized her confidence in Africa’s potential to elevate the sport to new heights.

Nurturing Talent and Expanding Table Tennis Across Africa

During her address at the AGM, Sorling commended the abundance of talent on the continent and stressed the importance of nurturing these talents to achieve global success. “Africa has immense talent, and table tennis is a sport for all, for life,” Sorling said, underscoring ITTF’s readiness to collaborate with the new leadership to grow the sport across the continent.

Acknowledging Past Achievements and Leadership Transition

Sorling expressed gratitude to Khaled El-Salhy, the outgoing ATTF President, for his decades of service and dedication to the sport since 1996. “I commend the hard work of my dear friend Khaled El-Salhy, who has served with great respect,” she stated. She also congratulated Wahid Enitan Oshodi, the new ATTF President, along with Dr. Alaa Meshref, recognizing their commitment to advancing table tennis in Africa.
