Men’s Category: Edo Sets the Pace
Edo’s male team kicked off their campaign with a resounding 79-0 victory over Rivers RFC, sending a strong message to their competitors. Their next encounter was a nail-biting clash with Delta RFC, which saw Edo edge out a hard-fought 10-7 win. Delta started aggressively, pinning Edo in their 22-meter area for the first five minutes and earning a penalty try after a high tackle on Friday Solomon. Edo responded with a well-executed try by fullback Anwar Aliyu, and center Festus Osaboro sealed the win with a crucial penalty in the 28th minute.
Delta RFC rebounded with an emphatic 64-0 victory over Rivers RFC, but their efforts fell short of overtaking Edo’s consistent performances, securing Edo the men’s championship title.

Women’s Category: Edo’s Ladies Dominate
Edo’s women’s team was equally relentless, opening their campaign with a dominant 39-0 win over Rivers RFC. Delta RFC also defeated Rivers 29-0, setting the stage for a highly anticipated final showdown between Edo and Delta. Edo’s women rose to the occasion, delivering a spectacular 40-0 victory to clinch the championship title.
Chinaza Abah emerged as the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick of tries, while Becky Okitikpi added two more to the tally. Captain Mene Augustar showcased her precision by converting five times, sealing Edo’s triumph in style.
