Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Addresses Favour Ofili’s Olympic Registration Issues
On July 28, 2024, the Minister of Sports Development Senator John Owan Enoh, met with Team Nigeria athletes at the Games Village in Paris. During this session, he reaffirmed his commitment to addressing athletes’ concerns directly.
After learning about Favour Ofili’s distress regarding her Olympic races this morning, the minister revealed that he promptly contacted Professor Ken Anugweje of the Ministerial Podium Performance Committee and the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN). Both confirmed that Ofili was registered for the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events. The minister is awaiting further clarification from the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).
Favour Ofili is a top athlete with numerous accolades, including being a World Championships finalist and a Commonwealth Games silver medalist.

The minister declared he will not tolerate any negligence, promising thorough investigations and sanctions. He also urged the AFN and NOC to ensure Ofili competes in all her registered events at the Paris Olympics.
