Support for Nationwide Protest: Peter Obi Advocates Peaceful Demonstrations

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi, has expressed his support for the upcoming nationwide protest scheduled for August. Obi emphasized that the Nigerian Constitution allows room for peaceful demonstrations as it is the right of citizens. However, he also cautioned against violence, urging protesters to abide by the law during their demonstrations. 

In a recent interview with the media Obi posited hunger and hopelessness among the youth as the driving forces behind the planned protest. He called on the Nigerian authorities to engage with the protesters and listen to their grievances, emphasizing the importance of governance and understanding the challenges faced by the citizens.

While supporting the right to protest, Obi also urged security agencies to ensure the safety of the protesters and operate within the boundaries of the law. He emphasized the need for a peaceful and civil manner of protest that upholds the rule of law and demonstrates that the nation lives within legal frameworks.
