NPF Clarifies E-CMR Initiative as Tool for Fighting Crime
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced a temporary suspension of the enforcement of the electronic central motor registry (e-CMR) registration process to allow for public awareness and education. While emphasizing that the initiative is not a revenue-generating scheme, the NPF highlighted its crucial role in enhancing public safety.
Designed to create a comprehensive database of vehicles and their owners, the e-CMR will empower law enforcement to combat vehicle-related crimes more effectively. By providing real-time access to vehicle information, the NPF aims to reduce theft, carjacking, and other offenses.

The police have assured the public that the e-CMR process will be free from corruption and extortion, with dedicated officers tasked with its implementation.
