ASFU Mourns the Loss of Veteran Sports Administrator Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah
The Africa Students Football Union (ASFU) is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, a Patron of the Union and the Chief Operating Officer of the recently concluded 13th Africa Games in Ghana. Dr. Owusu-Ansah’s demise was announced on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Throughout his life, Dr. Owusu-Ansah made significant contributions to sports development in Africa and worldwide. His impact on the lives of student-athletes and sports administration across African countries is immeasurable.

Prof. Oluwaseun Omotayo, the President of ASFU, expressed shock and described Dr. Owusu-Ansah as a pillar in sports management. The President fondly remembered the deceased’s unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions to ASFU, emphasizing that his departure has created a significant void in the field.
“We will greatly miss Dr. Owusu-Ansah, whose commitment to sports was unparalleled. He played a pivotal role in building the Union and was instrumental in shaping its programs. His absence will be deeply felt,” said Prof. Omotayo.
