Veteran Actor Jimi Solanke Dies at 81, Leaves Behind Rich Artistic Legacy
Legendary Nigerian actor and dramatist Jimi Solanke passed away on Monday at the age of 81. Solanke, a pioneer member of Wole Soyinka’s famed Orisun Theatre Group, dedicated his life to the arts, impacting audiences for over seven decades.
He began his journey in the 1960s, showcasing his versatility on platforms like Western Nigeria Television and international festivals. Renowned for his electrifying performances in “Death and the King’s Horseman” and “Kongi’s Harvest,” Solanke earned international acclaim.
