President Tinubu Cuts number of Delegation For FG’s Trips Home and Abroad

Boom RadioNG | January 9, 2024

In a bid to streamline government spending, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken decisive steps to reduce the number of individuals accompanying him on both local and foreign trips. This cost-cutting directive, announced by Special Adviser on Media, Ajuri Ngelale, aims to foster fiscal responsibility in governance.

Effective immediately, President Tinubu has implemented a 60% reduction in the entourage size for official travels. For foreign trips, only 20 individuals will accompany the President, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and the First Lady will have five attendees each. On domestic travels, the President’s entourage will be limited to 25 people, the Vice President’s to 15, and the First Lady’s to 10.

Furthermore, President Tinubu has directed a significant reduction in his personal security detail during state visits within Nigeria. The security apparatus of the visited states will now assume primary responsibility for the President’s safety.

It is emphasized that strict adherence to these measures is mandatory, and any violation by ministers or public servants will result in appropriate sanctions.

This move reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to prudent financial management and efficient governance, setting a precedent for responsible spending across government functions.
