History as Dangote refinery receives first shipment of crude oil
The Dangote Oil Refining Company has now received its first shipment of crude oil, marking a major milestone for the multi-billion-dollar facility and bringing it closer to full operation.
The first shipment, a 950,000-barrel cargo sourced from Shell International Trading and Shipping Co (STASCO) arrived on a chartered vessel and was discharged into the refinery’s crude oil tanks.

However, with the arrival of the first cargo of crude oil, the project appears to be finally on track to begin production after its launch in May by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
This is a major milestone for us,” said Aliko Dangote, president and CEO of Dangote Group, in a statement.
“We are excited to finally be receiving crude oil and starting the process of refining it into products that will benefit Nigerians across the country.”

When fully operational, the Dangote Refinery is expected to produce 327,000 b/d of gasoline, 244,000 b/d of diesel, 56,000 b/d of jet fuel/kerosene, and 290,000 mt/year of propane/LPG.
The Dangote Refinery is expected to end Nigeria’s dependence on crude importation of petroleum in addition to state refineries hoping to come on board soon enough.
