The national population commission, NPC has announced that 13,500 field functionaries are to conduct a trial census in 7,468 enumeration areas in the country.
This was disclosed by the commission’s federal commissioner in Katsina, Bala Almu-Banye at the close of the North-West Zonal training for principal trainers for the exercise where he stated that the trial census will cover the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
For a smooth process, 6 local government areas will be chosen from a state in each of the six geo-political zones for full population enumeration.
“Forty-five EAs shall be selected each from the remaining 30 states and the FCT. In total, 7,468 EAs have been selected for this trial census to test run their suitability and readiness for the actual census,” he said.
“NPC will use a total of 13,500 field functionaries comprising 11,510 enumerators, 1,529 supervisors and 823 facilitators for the trial census.
