The Nigeria Police Force have announced the arrest of the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari. He was arrested alongside four others today.
According to reports, he will then be handed over to the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA for onward prosecution.
According to a police official, “He was arrested by the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department because he failed to appear twice following invitation that the NDLEA was looking for him,” He is with the AIG FCIID now and will be sent to the NDLEA shortly.”
The official also added that Abba Kyari’s pending case on Internet fraud charges will proceed separately.
“They want to formalize the ongoing probe by PSC before handing him over for prosecution and extradition,”
Abba Kyari was arrested hours after NDLEA declared him wanted over alleged drug links.
The Agency had earlier in the day disclosed that he attempted to recover seized Cocaine from the agency by bribing its officials with $61,400.
The agency also stated that Kyari was a member of a notorious transnational drug ring spanning Brazil-Ethiopia-Nigeria.
