President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended indefinitely the inauguration of the newly constituted Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) which was initially scheduled for today, Wednesday 24 November 2021.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, made this known in a statement on Tuesday night.
“A new date for the inauguration of the Board will be announced in due course. We deeply regret inconveniences caused to members by this suspension, please,” Mustapha said.
the President on September 19, 2021 appointed the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Mele Kyari, as the Chief Executive Officer, and that the President acted in accordance with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
Also, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume will serve as the Chairman of the Board, with Umar I. Ajiya as the Chief Financial Officer. Other members of the board are Dr Tajudeen Umar (North East), Mrs Lami O. Ahmed (North Central), Mallam Mohammed Lawal (North West), Senator Margaret Chuba Okadigbo (South East), Barrister Constance Harry Marshal (South South), and Chief Pius Akinyelure (South West).
