Nigeria Senate Passes Electoral Amendment Bill

The Nigerian Senate today during the plenary have passed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill. In the bill, it gives Independent National Electoral Commission the approval to transmit results electronically.

There was an earlier debate as to whether or not the Senate would reconsider the electoral act amendment bill empowering the Independent National Electoral Commission to determine the best mode of transmission of election results.

The red chamber had also earlier approved that all political parties must use the direct primary mode in picking candidates for elections.

The Senate approved four clauses in the electoral act amendment bill.
