Lagos State to Begin Operation Show Your License / Certificate for All Health Facilities Across The State

Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), an agency under the ministry of health in Lagos state will on Monday, begin a clampdown on unregistered health facilities operating in the state.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Abiola Idowu, the exercise coined, Operation Show Your License / Certificate, which is on the directive of the state Commissioner of health, Prof Akin Abayomi, is aimed at controlling quackery and to also verify the licenses of both public and private health facilities in the state.

She, therefore, advised all health facilities in the State, both public and private to cooperate with the Agency’s monitoring staff and present licenses of all health care workers, including certificate of registration for verification or risk sanctions immediately.

She reiterated the need for owners of facilities in the State to take advantage of the HEFAMAA e-portal to complete their registration and renewal and also keep abreast of the programs and activities of the Agency.

In her remarks, HEFAMAA Board Chairman, Dr. Yemisi Solanke Koya explained that the initiative is not a witch-hunting exercise, “rather it is in furtherance of our public protection mandate, HEFAMAA through the verification exercise seeks to ensure that the health facilities in Lagos State are strictly complying with the law,” she explained.
