Massive Deployment of Security Personnel to Anambra Can Have its Advantage and Its Disadvantages – IGP
The Inspector general of police, Usman Alkali Baba has said that the massive deployment of police to Anambra state ahead of the November 6th gubernatorial elections has both advantages and disadvantages. He made this statement during a ministerial briefing at the state house, noting that although the police has deployed 34,587 police personnel (overt and covert) to the state, such deployment can be impactful in two ways, one of which is discouraging voters to come out to vote.

For this reason, he said the police has maintained good relationships with the communities through community engagements, talking to traditional leaders, holding stakeholder meetings, jingles and will make sure the strategy will adequately encourage and embolden people to go out and vote
He added that over 20,000 active criminal cases filed by the police are still languishing in the court without proper justice meted out adding that the issue of kidnapping for ransom and criminality will continue unless the process for conviction, dispensation of justice within the system is improved upon.
