BoomRadioNG | October 7, 2021

The threat to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State has been said not to be the idea of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Willie Obiano made this disclosure to State House Correspondents after he held a closed-door meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Governor said he had come to report the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to the President concerning his briefing with newsmen at the end of the Federal Executive Council yesterday that the federal government may not rule out the possibility of declaring a state of emergency in Anambra State.

Obiano while speaking with newsmen also described the threat as unfortunate, wondering why the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation had not contemplated the imposition of emergency rule in northern States during massive killings occasioned by banditry.

The Anambra State Governor further stated that President Buhari is aware of the fact that Anambra has been the safest state in Nigeria for seven years plus, he said.

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State also disclosed that he has plans to call the Attorney General to express his mind to him over the suggestion, insisting that apart from the recent security crisis, the State had been the most peaceful State in the southeast.
