Counsel’s ill-health Stalls Trial of 3 CBN Officials Over Alleged 8 Billion Naira scam

A Federal High Court Judge in Ibadan has stalled the trial of three Central Bank of Nigeria – CBN staff and others over an alleged 8 billion Naira fraud.

The Judge, Justice Nathaniel Ayo had adjourned until tomorrow Thursday after hearing from the defense Counsel, Mr Olayinka Bolanle, who informed the court that he recently took ill and cannot continue with the matter today thus his appeal for an adjournment to enable him properly recuperate.

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission -EFCC had arraigned the defendants, Kolawole Babalola, Muniru Olaniran and others still at large, before the court for alleged multiple charges bordering on conspiracy, forgery, stealing of mutilated currencies at the Ibadan office of the CBN.

All the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against them by the anti-graft commission.
