Napoli FC Players Osimhen and Koulibaly Speak after Rascist Abuse by Fiorentina Fans
Nigeria and S.S Napoli Forward Victor Osimhen and Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly have both voiced their displeasure at the racist abuse they both suffered on Sunday away to SerieA side Fiorentina.
Both players took their social media platforms to speak-up against racism. Osimhen who has made a flying start to this season scoring four goals from five matches tweeted “speak to your kids, you parent make them understand how disgusting it is to hate an individual because of the color of their skin NOTORACISM.
Senegal’s Koulibaly tweeted the derogatory words that the Fiorentina fans hurled at him. Finishing his tweet by positing that racist should be “identified and kept out of stadiums”.
Napoli Teammates and the club’s official twitter handle have also joined the campaign tweeting with the hashtag No To Racism.
In A swift response to the ugly incident, Fiorentina have put out a statement promising to provide CCTV footage which will help the police help bring the perpetrators to book why also condemning in strong terms the racist abuse meted out to the African players in the Napoli team.
Italy’s football governing body the FIGC has announced that it would investigate the incidence. The Naples side currently sit atop the SerieA table with twenty-one points from seven games.
