Expedite Work on President Buhari’s Loan Request – Senate President Lawan

President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter to the Nigerian Senate seeking to borrow $4.054bn, €710m, and $125m to service external loans has been forwarded to the Committee on Foreign and Local Debts by the senate president Senator Ahmed Lawan during Plenary today.

Lawan while forwarding the request to the Committee led by Senator Clifford Ordia asked that the committee work on President’s request and submit its report back next Tuesday.

Similarly the Senate President also read another letter of request from President Buhari dated 17th of September 2021 requesting the senate to confirm the appointment of the Secretary and Board members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – EFCC.

In the letter President Buhari explained that the request for the confirmation of the nominees was in accordance with the provision of section 2(1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Establishment Act, 2004.

The names of those to be confirmed for the EFCC board are George Abbah Ekpungu, Secretary Cross River; Luqman Muhammed Edo; Anumba Adaeze Enugu; Alhaji Kola Raheem Adesina Kwara; and Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad Yobe.
