Speaker Of House Reps, Femi Gbajabiamila Sounds Note of Warning to Defecting Members of the House
A member of the House of representatives representing representing Tai/Eleme/Oyigbo Federal Constituency in Rivers state, Mr. Chisom Dike has defected to the majority party in the house, the All progressives congress (APC) from the people’s democratic party (PDP). According to reports, it is said he was perceived as a loyalist of the rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike as he is the 2nd lawmaker to defect from the PDP in Rivers state.
Mr Dike, announcing his defection at plenary through a letter sent to the speaker, cited division within the PDP as his reason for his defection. However, another PDP lawmaker, Ossai Ossai, protested against Mr. Dike’s defection saying that Dike did not present “satisfactory evidence” that there is a crisis in the opposition party.

Speaker of The House of Representatives Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila
Announcing Dike’s defection on the floor of the lower chamber, Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, said Dike becomes the second lawmaker to join the APC from Rivers State and that the House had taken judicial notice of the division in the PDP, adding that on that note, Mr Dike should be admitted to the APC.
He however called on the Clerk of the House to, as a matter of urgency to compile the number of members in each political party in the house as it is not good for democracy to have a one-party country.
