WE REJECT THE COMPOSITION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’s HEALTH REFORM COMMITTEE – JOHESU
JOHESU has described as unthinkable the decision of the Federal Government to ignore a union like JOHESU. The Union whose full name is “The Joint Health Sector Unions” (JOHESU) and has rejected president Muhammadu Buhari’s composition of the national health reforms committee, headed by vice president Yemi Osinbajo.
In a letter signed by JOHESU’s acting National Secretary, the JOHESU criticised the Nigerian government for ignoring all other health professionals in the composition of the committee, insisting it’s membership is dominated by physicians who make up over 95 percent of the Union’s registered members.

JOHESU’s letter also pointed the perceived anomaly in the composition of the committee in the provision of a slot for the Director General, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Council while leaving out NAFDAC, which regulates all the medical devices, equipment, drugs, and chemicals, which are the essential tools and commodities in the Nigerian health system.
JOHESU also observes that The inclusion of National Association of Nigeria Nurses
and Midwives is only a professional association representation.
