Congo DR President Tshisekedi Takes Moderna Jab After Rejecting AstraZeneca

Months after rejecting the AstraZeneca jab over fears that it was not safe, President Felix Tshisekedi of The Democratic Republic of Congo’s  has now received the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine.

As recent as July, the Congo DR President expressed his fears over the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine. He largely inferred that his fears over the vaccine were centred around the alleged incidences of blood clots.

Tshisekedi has announced earlier that he would receive a different vaccine if it became available. The country has so far announced 54,009 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 1,053 deaths.

Congo DR only recently took possession of 250,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine last week.
