200 New Covid-19 Cases Linked To An Airport Outbreak in China
About 200 new covid-19 infections have been discovered in 5 Chinese provinces which have been linked to an outbreak an airport in Nanjing, China.
According to reports, the people involved are mostly infected with the delta variant of the virus where it was first detected among airport staff about a week ago where it was suspected that the virus reached Nanjing via a flight from Russia. Most of the detected cases have been confined to Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province.
Although, individual infections have also been found in other cities among travelers returning from the region. For instance, two infected people were reported in Beijing.
In addition, strict quarantine rules were imposed on returnees from Nanjing, where the entire population had been tested twice for the virus since last week and the authorities have admonished people to refrain from unnecessary travel.
