An Anambra state high court has today ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to list Senator Ugochukwu Uba as the bonafide governorship candidate of People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the November 6 election.
This judgement was given by Justice Obiora Nwabunike as the case was brought by Senator Ugochukwu Uba against Mr Valentine Ozigbo, Anambra state chapter of PDP and INEC. The court also awarded a cost of N10 million against Ozigbo and PDP, to be paid to Senator Uba as cost of litigation.

Meanwhile, a federal high court in Awka, Anambra state had earlier ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish the name of Valentine Ozigbo as candidate of the PDP for the November 6 Anambra state governorship election. According to reports, he had secured 62 votes to emerge as the standard-bearer of the party in the primary election which was held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka. He also sought an order “mandating” INEC to publish his name as the party’s candidate
However, INEC had not published any PDP candidate’s name for the governorship polls last week following an order by the federal high court not to publish the name of any candidate for the PDP pending the determination of the motion on notice.
