Partnerships Are Integral To The Delivery Of EURO2020, And Development of Football – UEFA
The body charged with the administration of football in Europe has responded to the growing trend of Footballers removing drinks placed on their tables during Media briefings. Euro 2020 tournament director Martin Kallen who has been involved with organizing at least 5 Euro tournaments today spoke on the trend that started on Monday the 14th of June 2021 when Portuguese captain controversially removed 2 bottles of Coca-Cola and encouraged people to drink water.
France playmaker Paul Pogba seemingly followed the trend by removing a bottle of Heineken 0 beer from the table before the commencement of his parley with the media. and just when Pogba and Ronaldo’s actions had people talking, Italian player Manuel Locatelli joined the trend on Wednesday the 16th of June 2021 when he replaced a bottle of coke with water.
Tournament director Martin Kallen has reiterated that although UEFA will not be fining players directly, the national associations could be fined for the actions of the players. Kallen also affirmed that partnerships are “integral to the delivery of the tournament and to ensuring the development of football across Europe, including for youth and women,”
