PDP GOVERNORS ACCUSE PRESIDENT BUHARI OF MAKING THE NATION BANKRUPT.
After the People’s Democratic Party Governor’s forum meeting that held at the government house, Uyo yesterday, they released a 14-point communique read by Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto.
They have come to a conclusion that the federal government has plunged Nigeria into bankruptcy as it has incurred debt to the tune of 36 trillion naira which is clearly unsustainable. They governors said “All the gains of the PDP Government under Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, where Nigeria exited its foreign debt obligations has been destroyed. Borrowing for frivolous items such as funding the Nigerian Television Authority is scandalous.
“Money should only be borrowed for productive purposes as Nigeria’s current debt of over N36 trillion is becoming clearly unsustainable relative to our earnings and GDP.”
They also complained at the manner the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) carried out its operations, particularly its recent decision not to make statutory contributions to the Federation Account as they claim the NNPC is starving states of funds needed for employment, development and general well-being.
